Surprise nursery!

We live in the two bedroom half of our duplex: Master bedroom and Brylee's bedroom. This was all fine and well except that we're staying in this house until December and are having a baby in March! That's 9 months that this kid doesn't have a room... what to do. Well, 2 years ago, Braden built me a walk in closet in place of the hallway into the master bedroom...

We were discussing how to arrange our room or Bry's room to fit this little guy into our home when Braden had an AHA moment... what if the closet was a bedroom, not a closet? He's a genius! In just 2 days, we went from the closet above to this.

We put the closet shelves out in our room. We shortened, finished, and painted them. And see that green satin curtain in the corner? Pull back that curtain and you'll find This!

I recovered our black chair and green footstool for $2! Braden thinks it's too girly for a boy's room, but I think it's definitely an improvement!

I recovered a bulletin board that we had lying around to put on top of the shelf and put ribbons on it and along the walls too - $4. I repainted the "Sweet dreams" arc - something else that we just had around and put some sporty stickers on it - $2. Then I just repainted a few frames that we had, put some pix in em and tied em up with ribbons - $2.

And finally, I bought the bumpers, sheet, and quilt at a consignment sale last summer before I even knew it was a boy! Haha - $15.

All in all, we got ourselves a brand new nursery... for $25 might I add. I'm pretty proud of that! Now we just need to pick out a name and I'll put that up in vinyl on the wall on the left.

Brylee's newest phrase is "Did you hear that?" She says it all the time and it's oh so cute. I don't know where she picks up some of the things she does, but it's so fun! And she's got some sweet hair and a messy face to add to the total effect. :)

A lot has happened in the past month, so here's a great big catch up bloggy with lots of pics and videos of my cute little Bry Bry.

Fall has come and gone and so have all the leaves...

And now we're on to Christmas! The day after Thanksgiving, my family went to Salt Lake City to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. It was so fun to be there with all the cousins!

We went swimming at the hotel and Kenny and Dax taught Brylee how to cannon ball! Good times.

Then we went out to Malta for Grandpa Barrett's funeral. We miss you Grandpa!

She's already learned how to be oh so photogenic and adorable...

Then it was time to meet Bridger at the Airport! I can't believe it's been two years already!

The girls waited anxiously to see Uncle Bug again! (Bry was 3 weeks old when he left so she was really attached to him)

But of course Mama Sue was the first and most excited. Welcome Home Bugga!

And before ya know it, it's time to see Santa! I wouldn't say she was THRILLED, but it was definitely an improvement from last year!

Then we opened presents on Christmas Eve Eve with Grandma Blanche and Grandpa Leon before we left town. Big Hugs!

Then it was Christmas morning!!! We were out in Malta with Grandma Sue and Grandpa Joe. Look what Santa brought me! Thanks for a GREAT Christmas G-ma and G-pa!

And then we were off to Hollywood... oh wait. I mean Idaho Falls.

To open even more presents! Thanks G-ma Cherie and G-pa Dave for all the great gifts! Bry kept on saying "Oh my!" with every new present that was opened. For some odd reason, she was REALLY excited when Daddy opened a new pair of slippers. She jumped up and down with her hands in the air yelling "Oh my oh my oh my!" That's actually what I did too when I opened my new Kitchen Aid Mixer!!! Thanks a million Mama and Dada! Our lives are changed forever!

And a big Thanks to Bry's future hubby Aiden and future in-laws - Jessica and Branden for the CUTE bows and new clothes for baby brother!

Then it was time for a new adventure. When all the cousins arrived at G-ma Cherie's, we went roller skating! Look at that excited face!!!

Little miss Penny was quite the skating Pro from the start! It was so very fun to see Steve and Jess and Penny!

And Kenny, Dax, and Ashlyn of course showed Bry how it's done.

Bry didn't like it at first so Daddy just carried her around the skating rink. Not sure why both of their eyes are closed, but hey, they're all smiles!

But eventually, she got the hang of it and had a GREAT time! The key was the she had to do it ALL by herself. I couldn't help her stand up, hold hands, nothin. Lil' miss independent required absolute all by herself-ness. Shocker, right?

The next day, it was time for another new adventure! Brylee's first time SKIING!!! We went up to Kelly Canyon and rented the smallest pair of skis they had and got her the cutest season pass you'll ever see! And away she went! She actually did REALLY well! She even rode the chair lift up to the big hill and skied all the way down Skier's Lane - part of it all by herself! It was so stinking fun! Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us.

Then there was time for one final adventure... riding horses! Auntie Whitney was so nice to let us go play with her horses. Unfortunately, Bry was all adventured out and refused to ride. Oh well, maybe when I can ride with her this summer. It was still fun. Thanks Whiddy!

We had such a wonderful holiday season! Lots and lots of parties and time with family. We are so lucky to have such great families that live so close by.

And now we move on to 2012! Time to make way for this little guy! Can't wait for March 26th! (But wouldn't it be cool if he was born a few weeks early on Leap day?!)

She's TWO! Can you believe it? On Saturday morning, it snowed for the first time this year!!! So we got up and played in the snow! Pebbles, has not seen snow before and thought it was the best! Bry had a great time sledding!

Her official b-day was yesterday, but we threw her a little party last week. It was a Dora adventure... since Dora is Bry's bestie. We ate yummy food with lots of family, g-parents, aunts and uncles and cousins! Then the little kiddos went on a Dora adventure to find the cupcakes! They got out Dora's map and had to go under the coffee table, through the tunnel, and into the fort to find the cupcakes! It was so fun!

Then they played pin the tail on Swiper. The blindfold was not a big hit, so they did without :)

Then, we had cake and cupcakes! Messy faces all over the place! Isn't this Dora cake cute?!

Brylee did not like getting too messy, so when Daddy stuck her hand in the cake and rubbed it on her face... she was NOT pleased!

Then we opened presents! She got lots of GREAT stuff. The dancing Dora doll and the puzzles from the G-ma's and G-pa's were the favorites, I think :)

It was so fun! Thanks to all who came and made it a wonderful celebration for our wonderful TWO YEAR OLD! Happy Birthday Brylee! We love you!!!!

I love to play dress up and couldn't decide on just one costume... so here's a bunch of them!

We went to a party at Braden's work. We were angry birds and Bry was a Monkey (if you don't know what angry birds are, you are so behind on your time wasting phone and iPad apps!). There were lots of other kiddos all dressed up at the party too! It was fun!

In Logan, they do the "pumpkin Walk" which is this great display of fun scenes and carvings made out of pumpkins! We went this year and had a blast!

At the end, they have all these wooden sets that you can stick your face in. Bry loved it... see for yourself!

I was clearly having too much fun, myself!

We sold our dear friend Rzr last month, so to honor it and celebrate, we bought ourselves some new toys. Meet Stella the 3rd.

We also bought a new toy... xbox Kinect! Well, we got it free with Braden's laptop, but still, it counts :) We had so much fun with our friends Jessica and Branden.

And Bry had great times at the park with their little boy Aiden... Brylee's future husband. Yes, they're betrothed.

And then we partied with Dylan and his friend Ellie.

And Brylee got in on it too.

She's really good at xbox... can't you tell?

If you haven't played kinect before, I highly recommend... it is so fun!!!

Cousins and Parties

October is full of Birthdays and all sorts of fun things! Here are a few of the parties we went to with the Barretts!

First, it was Kasyn's 1st Birthday.

And that day, at Rylan's football game, Super G-ma Sue took on all the kiddos! Go G-ma!
Brylee and Ayva played on the trampoline and laughed and laughed!

Then it was Braden's Birthday! I made him a motorcycle cake dirt track ramp and all... and we lit it on fire! Just like Evil Kneval. Happy 25 Daddio!

And Tarl was dressed like Spongebob... HILARIOUS!

Then, we went to a party with the Stoddard cousins!

Holiday Recap!

Ok all, so after a long and crazy vacation from Blogging, I've decided to get back into it. I'm sorry I've been a slacker, but one or two things has happened in the past 8 months... yes it's been 8 months since my last blog. My bad! So, here' the worlds least in depth 8 month recap. I will post videos very soon, but not today. Holidays are basially the only time I ever remember to take pictures, so here's a holiday recap:

In October, Braden turned 24. We went to Texas Roadhouse on his birthday and the restaurant people made him ride a saddle and the sang to him. Bry rode with him. She loves her Daddy!

Then, it was Haloween and as a family, we were all dressed up to match. We were quite the RockStars! Brylee loved seeing all the people and playing with friends. And of course, she LOVED all the chocolate! I guess we are related.

This year, we had TWO Christmases! We had one party with Braden's family. There was SO much yummy food and we had lots of fun playing games and giving gifts.

We even did a Secret Santa. We dropped all these presents off at a VERY deserving family's house, rang the door bell and RAN! Rylan and Korgan rand the bell since they were the fastest!

It was a super fun party! I think the best part was when we surprised Gramma Sue and Grampa Joe with the picture of all the kiddies. :) Merry Christmas!

Brylee got to play with her twin cousin, Penny! All in all, it was a pretty amazing Christmas. We love you all!

Brylee's first Independence Day!

Oh boy, we've had a lot of fun the past few days! Deryk and Jojo had their baby! Seth Joel Barrett is so cute! We got to spend a little time with them.

I can't believe how tiny he is! I thought Brylee was small..... I WAS WRONG!

Braden's parents came down and we had lots of fun with them. Grandma Sue bought Brylee this ADORABLE outfit! She loves to snuggle with her Grandpa! Although, I'm not sure which one of them drank the bottle...

AND It was Brylee's first 4th of July and we hit all the highlights! We are so lucky to live in this amazing nation of ours and I am so proud to be an American!

On Friday morning, we decided to hike up to the wind caves with some friends... but we didn't get out of bed in time to meet them so we went by ourselves! :) It was actually fun... just the two of us out in that gorgeous canyon. Here we are at the top. She had so much fun on the way up. She was laughing and reaching for every tree, weed, flower or anything else the whole way. It was really fun, but man she's heavy to carry up a hill strapped to your belly! How did I carry her there for 9 months?!?!

In the two seconds I took to take that last picture, she grabbed a big handful of dirt and shoved it in her mouth. So silly!

She was excited on the way up... and slept the whole way down!

Logan lights off the fireworks on the 2nd so we went to that! They light them from the football stadium so we parked ourselves right across the street. We rode our bikes so we could beat the traffic on the way home and let me tell you, we were right! We were flying by cars and it's all downhill home so we were cruisin!

She was so fascinated by the fireworks! I thought she's go crazy staying up late and hearing loud noises, but she watched like a hawk!

We watched them with some friends: Dallin and Patty and their little girls Zeeley and Emma Joe.

Then we went to the "parade" yesterday. It was... interesting. It's called "the cruise-in" and it's just a bunch of old classic cars that drive up and down main street. It was pretty cool, just very different than I'd seen (or even heard of) before.

Brylee had lots of fun...

Right up until she fell asleep... again.

Then we came home and had a little weinie roast on our patio. We made smores, sat around the fire and just had a great time together. It was really fun.

And Daddy helped Brylee roast her first marshmallow!

It was a wonderful week. Happy 4th everyone!

St. George Memorial Day

So we went back to St. George for Memorial Day this year. It was so fun to be with all my sibs and their fams and my parents. Here are some pix of our fun trip!

Piano

Yay! So we bought our piano a few weeks ago, but the stops on the strings were off or something so it sounded like the pedal was on all the time and all the notes would jumble together. It was super annoying and I couldn't stand to play it so it's just been sitting here making se sad. BUT, today, Grandma and Grandpa Astle came over today and were looking into it and found a way to open the pedal box and Braden fixed it! Yay! Oh and we figured out it was made in 1895! Pretty cool. Anyway, it still needs a new finish or stain on it, but here is a pic of my beautiful piano! :)

It has the most beautiful carvings in the case. Oh I love it! Yay for cheap, old pianos!

New things, new age, new tricks!

So Brylee is getting bigger and bigger all the time! She sits up pretty much by herself now and is on the verge of crawling! She used to do the motor lips noise all the time but doesn't do it anymore. I never got a very good video of that :( But here's a few updates for you to see.

We went for a bike ride the other day and she got to ride in her Cadillac...

And she got a little tired along the way. :)

We bought a piano (that obviously needs some work) the other day and Brylee had her first lesson! She loves music!

She LOVES to stand up ALL THE TIME. She and her Daddy were just looking out the window the other day together. She loves her Daddy!

She is also a big star with sweet shades and an even cooler hat :)

And this is a cute tutu Aunt Amy made for her for Christmas. She's finally big enough to wear it without drowning! She's going to be a great dancer someday.

This old house

Ok so Braden and I bought our house last November and it was in semi-rough shape. I thought I'd do a little husband bragging and show you all the work we've done to fix the place up. I want to thank my family and my in-laws for all the help you guys were! We couldn't have done it without you! Especially my father-in-law, Joe. You are the man! We will forever owe you for all the work you've done! Thanks a million.

For those who don't know, we bought a duplex and we are renting out the bottom apartment and living in the top one. Since we were renovating the downstairs apartment right up till the renters came, I don't have any after photos of the downstairs, so I'll just tell you about what we did. I also don't have any pictures of the outside or the yard yet. Coming soon! :) Anyway, downstairs, there was two bedrooms and a weird storage room with an accordion curtain. There's one bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, a hallway, and a utility room. The set up was kind of weird. You had to go through the utility room to get to one of the bedrooms. Oh and the whole place had this awful rusty colored orange nasty carpet.

Well, we started by ripping out all the carpet and putting in new stuff. Then we ripped out the accordion curtain and put up a wall and door and turned it into a third bedroom. Then we painted it. Then, we ripped out part of the wall in the third bedroom and put in a door so you don't have to walk through the utility room anymore. Then we tiled, put in trim, replaced some light fixtures and switched out a bunch of the appliances for newer ones. All that in about 3 weekends.

Ok so here's a few before pictures of the upstairs where we live.

This was the living room when we bought it. It did have new carpet which was nice. And I think the fire place is so cute!! :)

This is the new lving room! (Excuse the mess) We've painted all the walls tan with one wall a dark red for an accent wall. We put in a light and ceiling fan since as you can see, there were no lights in this room. We ripped out the ugly long kitchen cupboard and opened up the room into the kitchen. We also ripped out that bench thing that TV is sitting on and put in tile so we could put a bar in. Then we put up blinds and curtains htroughout the whole house.

And here is the new. We put in new marble countertops, painted it red, put in a bar to the right (not shown here), stained and finished the cupboards, put in a full sized range and took out the cook top, put up trim and a backsplash.

This was the old bedroom.

This is our new bedroom. We obviously haven't painted it yet... but give us a break! We've only lived here 8 weeks! :) This is a picture of our bed that he built! He built the entire frame and headboard! You can't see it very well but it has a full runner around the whole box springs and has 6 shelves built in to the head board! It is so beautiful! I LOVE IT!!! I think he might start an online business making and selling headboards and possibly bed frames so if your interested let us know! :)

We installed a door to the right of our bed so we could board up the other door and put in a walk in closet! Yay! Braden built all the shelves and put up a hanger rack and shoe rack and everything! He's the best!

Thanks to Grandpa Dave's mad painting skills, this is Brylee's new room! It has pink, green and yellow walls. And all the shelves have cute little baby things on them!! :)

I loved decorating her room! That was my favorite part! :)

Oh I love my house! So in two months, we;ve done all this to the inside... I can't wait to get crackin on the out side and the yard! This place has a really great landscape. I am way excited for it to warm up so I can get going! I want to do a big garden and lots of flowers but I am a novice in those areas so if you have advice for me on what and when to plant, I'm all ears!

All this work was done by my amazingly talented husband. I'd just had the baby so I didn't do much other than paint. He's amazing! Thank you Braden for my beautiful house!

So baby's first laugh happened tonight!!! I gave her a "zerbert" - not sure how to spell that - and she went crazy! I also went crazy... sorry about my super shrill high pitched crazy laugh in this video... but her's is so cute, it's worth embarrassing me to show off her cute laugh! :) At 3 and a half months she laughed! Grandma Blanche told her yesterday that she needed to laugh... so we have her to thank for this cute video!! :)

So this Baby is so fun! She and I were playing yesterday and she can roll over!!! Yay! I'm so proud. The doc said she would be able to roll at about 4-5 months... she's only 3! Well, She can't roll all the way over by herself yet - I have to move her arm out of the way - and she only goes from belly to back, but hey it's a start! A very cute and exciting start! :) Here's a few videos of her tricks.

So Brylee is always smilie in the morning so yesterday as soon as we woke up, we did a little photo shoot. It was so fun to finally get some good smiles on camera!

So I got a video camera for my birthday like 6 months ago and have been using it but never uploaded the videos onto my computer! So here's a few videos. This is my first video blog attempt so hopefully it turns out ok.

Cutest little cry ever! :) This was the first time we held our new little one after she got all cleaned up by the nurses in the hospital. What a wonderful experience! I'm so lucky ot be a mommy!

This is the night after she was born - November 8, 2009. I seriously have about 6 videos of this baby with the hiccups! I cursed her. For those of you who don't know, I used to get the hiccups ALL The time and they shake my whole body and are really loud. Seriously, I used to get them like 5-6 times a week, and sometimes 2-3 times a day for years until I had her... now she gets them all the time and I hardly ever do! This video is also funny because as you can see, it's super dark in the room and er eyes are WIDE open. For the first week of Brylee's life, she HATED light. She would slep all day with her eyes tight shut and as soon as you turn off the lights, she'd open her big beautiful eyes wide open! It was so funny! She's since recovered. :)

And one more... This was about two weeks ago. She is so smilie and cute and I love her little noises in this video! Oh I just love her to death!

Oh how time goes by when you're a new Mommy, moving, starting a new job, and remodeling! Haha. I'm the worst blogger ever! Anyway, here's an update of our little babe. She's so smilie and fun now. She has a fun little personality. It's so fun to see how she grows and grows. Here are some pictures!

A few firsts

Baby Brylee Brag Blog

This is the whole reason we made a blog! Was that some day we could put cute little things about our kiddies on here... and now we can!!! Brylee Barrett was born November 8, 2009 at 2:16 pm. She was 6 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long - that's the 50th percentile for height and the 15th percentile for weight! This is one long skinny baby! :) She is so fun and adorable! She has been such a good baby since she got here. She nurses well and doesn't cry hardly at all. And last night, she slept 4 hours and then I woke her up and fed her and then slept 4 hours again!!! She never cried the whole night and I had to wake her up for food! She is the best!

She's very small as you can see and this car seat is going to last her a while I think!!! But look at her fingers! They're SOOO long! She has the longest arms and legs in the world and they're so skinny! It's so cute to watch her flail around. :)

She really has been perfect since long before she got here... Here's my little chance to brag: I never had a single problem in pregnancy and never got sick once. I didn't lose a wink of sleep at all the night before or after she was born! I was only in labor for 4 hours - the first two hours, I could feel small contractions but nothing too bad and I had an epidural for the last hour so really it was only one hour of pain! And I was in the hospital for less than 24 hours. I am the luckiest person ever... so far. Guess I should expect some serious hardship sometime ahead because no one gets off that easy!

Anyway, she is here and healthy and very happy. We love her so much and she has so much family that loves her too. She is so blessed to have all of you to support her. And we are so blessed to be able to have the chance to be her parents! She's already a big daddy's girl. She stares at him anytime she can see him and looks for him until she can see him. It's so cute!!!

Girls weekend

The 2nd annual girls weekend in St. George was so much fun. We shopped and played and laughed and watched dumb movies about "Lo-bo Marunga." It was lots of fun. Here's a few pictures from the hike we went on.

Nusery time

So I decided to make some bedding for the baby's room - partly because I thought it would be fun and because we were super excited about how much cheaper it was to make! Anyway, we haven't decorated much in case we move soon but I did get the room mostly put together. Here are some pics of our new nursery! We can't wait to have a little one to put in this new nursery!!!

Thanks everyone who helped out with this little room! :) We are so lucky to have so much support!

We're not sure of her name yet but we're thinking either Brecca or Brylee. She's due November 21st, but we're both hoping she's here sooner than that! We can't wait!

Bad lands

Way back in September, we went to the BadLands in Wyoming. It was super fun. The whole Barrett fam was there! I couldn't do much riding - since I was 7 months pregnant - but Braden definitely got some good rides in! Here are some pics of Braden, Toby, and Bridger.

My first fishing trip

So Braden had a day off of work on Thursday so we decided to go up to a lake by Malta and go fishing! I've only been fishing twice in my life, but neither was the real line in the water experience... once in Belize and once fly fishing with Steph and JT. So, I was all excited to catch my first Idaho fish...

Braden had to show me how it was done, so on his first cast, he pulled in this 18" trout!!! It was so fun! It took up the whole length of our cooler!!!

Then a little while after, I caught myself one! Mine's wasn't as big, but hey, a fish is a fish!!! My biggest was about 16"... which is pretty awesome in my own personal opinion! :)

All in all we caught 8 and kept 4. We cooked them up when we got home... let me just tell you... that was some of the BEST fish I've ever had in my life!!!! I love fishing!

St. George Memorial Day...

Oh man, this was an eventful trip! So much fun every day! It all started out with some fun in a car ride. Andy and Brooklyn were nice enough to let us ride down with them. Ashlyn seemed like she had some fun sitting by Braden and Dax and I were partying in the back!

When we went camping, Kenny found her new best friend and was NOT going to let him out of her sight... ALL DAY! It was so cute! He had lots of fun being the center of another girl's attention for once! It was hard for me to share, but I learned... :)

We had so much fun with all the kiddies! They are so cute... it got us even more excited for this winter when we'll have our own! November 21 is when the big event is scheduled... but we'll see :)

Then the trip came to an end which was sad for all of us except baby Lyn... who gave us a little toe touch of excitement on the ride home!! It was so funny!

Fun with the Fam

Well, over the past little while there's been some events that were tons of fun! The Mother's Day bash was loads of fun with good food and even better company. I love you mom!

Then there was Paige's wedding. She looked SO beautiful and so happy. It was the first wedding I'd been to since my own so it was kind of exciting for me! :) I had lots of fun hanging out with Mudder and Stephy and Ty guy all day. He is so dang cute!!! (Apparently since he's the only one I took any pictures of! haha. Sorry Steph and Mom!)

We are so lucky to be a part of such a fantastic family! We love all of you guys so much!

In With The New!

About a week later, Braden's brother found us a sweet deal on a pickup at an auction in Salt Lake City so we went down and got it. It was pretty much what we sold Rhonda for so it worked out perfectly! Then, we found a 4-wheeler for about the same price as my dirt bike that we sold.... Just lucky I guess! So now we have a new pick-up and a sweet four wheeler! Yay! The truck's name is King Julian (in honor of our favorite character on our fave movie - Madagascar 2) and the four-wheeler's name is Stella. We love our two newest family members! :) Here's a picture of Stella. I don't have any of the truck yet but I'll post some once I get them.

Selling frenzy

We'd been trying to sell my car for a while so that we could buy a truck for our motorcycles an toys. So when we came back from break we started selling everything. We sold my car (Rhonda, you will be missed).

Then we sold my motorcycle (which will not be missed! haha). Here's some tribute photos! :) Out with the old!

Spring Break

Wow, so time flies right by and you don't even notice. Time for some catching up. The next fun thing that we did was take a trip for spring break. We drove and drove and drove to St. George to escape the cold. We stayed one night with Grandma and Grandpa Stoddard before they had to go back home so that was fun. We hiked in snow canyon and just kind of hung out, played tennis, swam, and chilled. It was really fun!

Then we decided to go to Vegas for a few days. We walked all over the strip, went to in and out burger (yummy!), went to the temple, and stayed at the Stratosphere. It was a lot of fun. On the way home we stopped at Braden's favorite motorcycle shop in Payson so that kind of compensated for all the time I spent shopping in Vegas! :) We had a blast, just the two of us for four days.

Well, Braden and I haven't been Braden and I for too long. We've only been through a few things worth reporting so far! :) First of course, was our wedding day! Happiest day of my life! I really couldn't wipe my smile off all day! And for that matter, I still can't! We're still living the life of newlywed-ness... ya know, no money, no food, lots of homework, and lots of work to pay the bills.... but it really is bliss! :)

Then, we went to Belize! :) We joined Whitney and my parents on a little Christmas vacation to the greatest place on earth! It was fun to finally introduce my new hubby to my brother... kind of a weird concept really. It was such a fun trip though! Thanks dad and mom for letting us come! And Steve and Jess, we miss you lots and can't wait to see you again!

And well, here we are now 4 months down the road just living life to the fullest!
